No birthday Blues

A great birthday week

No birthday Blues
Once again James 'big time' Kirtland let me down because he had better things to do. He came up with some excuse, but that was the bottom line. I don't think I'll bother sending him an e-invite next year!

Quotes of the week

Last Saturday I got to sit and watch as Chelsea put seven past Sunderland.

This week I played for Weirsider Rangers as we beat a team that hadn't lost in over a year and a half 5-1. I'm not trying to compare the feats in anyway, but it was still pretty impressive!

I was playing in my favourite Mark Hughes role, but unlike Sparky I haven't been finding the net much this season. Steve and Tom didn't have any such problems, although Tom's goal was more down to his hair than his head - the ball flew into the back of the net off his bouffant!

That was a good enough reason to go out and celebrate, but I had another reason too - turning 28.

I hate organising my own birthday so Saturday was the perfect night in many ways.

No fancy bars, or clubs, or annoying queues. Just me and some mates having some quiet(ish) drinks in Balham where we sat and drank most of the night away.

It was a great turn out too, but I was let down by one mate - although to be fair he's more of a colleague now he's ditched me on my last two birthdays!

Once again James 'big time' Kirtland let me down because he had better things to do. He came up with some excuse, but that was the bottom line. I don't think I'll bother sending him an e-invite next year!

The rest of my weekend went by in a flash. Most of Sunday was spent recovering from the night before and then on Monday I went home for dinner with my folks. A great couple of days.

Present

Chelsea gave me an early birthday present last week with the win against Sunderland and they haven't stopped giving ever since!

It's great to be in the 5th round of the FA Cup after beating Preston on Saturday, and on Wednesday I was at Stamford Bridge to see Frank Lampard and co. return to the top of league.

Every team goes through a sticky patch during a season, and I thought January could be ours with a few players going to the African Nations Cup. But if anything we've kicked on.

That said I can't say I was too disappointed when the Ivory Coast got knocked out last week, because from a purely selfish point of view the sooner Didier Drogba can fly back from Angola the better it is for Chelsea.

The same goes for our players with Ghana and Nigeria and I'm sure I'm not the only fan to think like that, and I'd bet my house that that is exactly how every club manager affected by the tournament feels too.

Anyway I better leave it there before I offend any more of our viewers in the Ivory Coast!

Tubes answers your questions

My favourite song lyrics are "never meant to make your daughter cry, I apologise a million times, sorry Miss Jackson OOOOOOOHHH I am for real." What are your favourite song lyrics and why.Chris 'put it in the bag' Kember

Tubes replies:Hi Chris 'put it in the bag' Kember! Long time no see, hope you're well. My favourite lyrics are from the track Street Tuff by Double Trouble & Rebel MC:

Elementary like A, B, C

Easy as one, two, three

Yes, it's the Rebel MC

Rough like a ninja, stinging like a bee

I don't think I need to explain why... it's just genius!

You're off Soccer AM, I'm not good at this gaaaame... oooh Voronin. Hi tubes just wanted to know who is the most ignorant or arrogant person you have questioned and why?Daniel Glasson (Aston Villa fan)

Tubes replies: I don't know if he's ignorant or arrogant, but I know for a fact that Simon Pegg doesn't like me! I did a little rap for him on the red carpet a while back and it didn't go down too well!

Have you got one question and one question only for Tubes!? Ask the lyrical genius anything you want in the comments section below and he'll answer the best ones next week!
