Living the dream

Music has always been my passion

Living the dream
My biggest worry is that no one will take me seriously but the aim is to break Japan first, where I tested most positively.

Quotes of the week

I honestly don't know where to start this week because my head is still spinning on the back of a call I got on Monday night.

The last three days have been a complete whirlwind and it's all because of Craig David... well sort of.

A few big wigs at a small record company in the States wanted to see him promoting his album and caught clips of Saturday's show online. They must have stumbled across some of my bits and saw the video of me and Sway doing our song together... and they liked it... I mean really liked it!

I've never taken myself seriously as a 'rapper', so when they said they were interested in signing me I thought it was a wind-up!

But they sent me down to their studios in London on Tuesday to do a bit of freestylin' and it was amazing! I've always found it quite hard to express myself but I think I've finally found a proper outlet.

I was working with a producer called Scooter and we just clicked. The chemistry was amazing and I spent twelve hours writing and laying down tracks like 'Too Tubes for Skool' and 'I've Got More Questions than Columbo.'

Scooter sent the tracks over on Tuesday night and the record company loved them. I was pretty nervous waiting for his call on Wednesday because after initially taking the whole thing a bit lightly I realised this is something I'd love to do.

Passion

Music has always been a passion of mine, but I never thought I was talented enough to pursue it properly, but the guys at Ton Def Records have really given me a lot of confidence.

They've been doing a lot of market research over the last few years and they reckon I could fill a big gap in the market.

My biggest worry is that no one will take me seriously but the aim is to break Japan first, where I tested most positively.

Things have been moving so quickly but everyone at Soccer AM has been great about it. I'm still committed to the show and I won't be flying out to LA to record Tubes Strikes Again until the season is over, but I'm not sure what will happen after that.

There's been talk of a mini tour around Japan, starting in Osaka, and finishing in Fukuoka, which I'm really excited about. And if all goes well out there then the record company have provisionally booked a couple of venues in East Anglia, where again they reckon I'll do well.

The guys at Ton Def Records have already put up 'I've Got More Questions than Columbo' online to create some buzz, and if you want to have a listen just click here.

I hope you all like it.

Later,

Tubes
