Just like watching Baresi!

Ward aka Franco Baresi!

To be fair I know where the comparison comes from, Wardy is a good footballer who can play with both feet and he is a good defender, but I'm not sure about Franco Baresi at this moment!

Elliott Ward says he's delighted to be back in the Coventry team after making only his fourth start of the season on Friday night.

The former West Ham defender has endured a difficult start to the campaign and in September admitted that an exit out of the club was on the cards.

However, despite his latest outing ending in defeat against Derby, he was in positive mood about the rest of the season.

"It was nice to be playing," he told Soccer AM. "Playing along side Leon Barnett was good for me and I think we did well together.

"Just to get the game was what I needed really and hopefully I can go on a run now."

A quick glance at the Coventry forums and it soon becomes apparent that that is exactly what the majority of Sky Blues fans are hoping for.

Baresi

In fact one poster even compared the cultured centre-back to Italian legend Franco Baresi!

Needless to say but Ward was more than happy with that comparison, although team-mate Clinton Morrison wasn't convinced:

He said: "You know Franco Baresi was a top, top, top defender!

"To be fair I know where the comparison comes from, Wardy is a good footballer who can play with both feet and he is a good defender, but I'm not sure about Franco Baresi at this moment!"

Chris Coleman's side currently find themselves in 16th in the table after the 2-1 defeat to Derby in which Jordan Clarke also saw red.

It means the Sky Blues are now winless in six games and both Morrison and Ward admitted that the clubs inconsistent form was costing them.

"It's the way we are sometimes as a club," said Ward. "The consistency just isn't there, but we've got an international break now so hopefully we'll comeback a bit stronger."

"That's just Coventry City though," added Morrison. "It's been like that since I signed and everyone says it was like that before as well.

"We'll be so close to the play-offs and then we'll get a nose bleed and start to drop down. And then we'll win three or four and get back up there. It's just the story of the club really."
