Quotes of the week

We all love football. But why?

Well Soccer AM has been asking some of the biggest names in the sport what makes the beautiful game so great.

Chelsea and Portugal midfielder Deco reveals who he used to go and watch and his earliest memories.

MY EARLIEST MEMORY OF FOOTBALL IS...
When I was maybe five and Brazil were playing Italy in the 1982 World Cup. Brazil lost that game and my father couldn't believe it.

MY FOOTBALLING HERO WAS...
When I was 12, and thought I knew something about football, I was supporting Corinthians and I remember watching Jal Milio. He was the best player I saw in that time.

MY FAVOURITE THING ABOUT MATCHDAY WAS...
The people who watch the game talking about the reuslts or how many a certain player was going score today or 'we're going to score four or five' - these conversations before the game are fantastic.

THE FUTURE OF FOOTBALL IS...
My big hope is the game will become, not more honest but more right, with no mistakes, like the other sports. When we are watching TV maybe ten cameras are watching us and it is difficult but for one wrong decision Ireland are out of the World Cup, I think it is an injustice.

FOOTBALL FANS ARE GREAT BECAUSE...
Without football fans we wouldn't have football, I think they are the best. We need them, without them football would be dead.

I LOVE FOOTBALL BECAUSE...
It is my life. Football yo ucan play with your friends your kids, football is fantastic fo rall the people to play and enjoy.
